I'm looking for some real-world feedback on how long suppressor approvals are taking these days. Did you use eForms or a paper application? What was your experience with trusts or dealer transfers?

I went through eForms for my last suppressor and it took just under eight months from submission to approval. I filed with a trust, and the dealer transfer was smooth once the stamp finally cleared

Keep in mind there will be a rush on suppressor's after Jan 1 due to the $200 tax stamp fee being abolished.

Some dealers will pre-sell you a suppressor and hold it for you and run the paperwork on Jan 1

There is also litigation in process to drop the NFA classification on suppressor's altogether, but that could take some time and may not happen.

My personal opinion is that suppressor's should be just like a handgun purchase.....run a background check and call it good!

Keep your powder dry!!

My personal feelings are that they should be treated like scopes and barrels. Buy one and install it without interference from government. It is an accessory, no more no less. They are hearing protection devices when used with the right ammunition.

That would certainly be an ideal outcome....and with our current administration it could very well be a real possibility!!
Stay tuned!!

I have two Suppressors on hold for January 1st

The administration, by itself, cannot change NFA. This requires either an act of congress, or a court ruling declaring NFA null and void.
