Excellent Cabela's link to their duck hunting ammo discussion.

Tom, I did a bought with the Big C several years ago now, while one will never be the same as before, it doesn't mean you can't enjoy the things you did before. Good Luck with your venture back into the duck blind and hope you fill your limit.

Going on to review the Bass Pro information. After all is said and done it is quite accurate but it also leaves many questions unanswered. What should I use to go Duck/Goose hunting. Many of you have a variety of shotguns to choose from. I on the other-hand, since I am primarily a rifle shooter only have one. It is a Remington 11-87 12 ga 3 inch magnum. It was chosen because it fits me and I shoot well with it. I use it for all things shotgunworthy. It is equipped with a extra full waterfowl choke that will shoot steel shot, for some reason they still make extra full waterfowl chokes for lead shot???? Anyway I only shoot two types of ammo through it. # 7 1/2 and #8 trap loads, and Federal Black Cloud, 3 inch, #4 steel shot. A box of 25 currently retails for less than $30 in most places. I have found that there is nothing I can't hunt with that ammo, and it is deadly out to 70 yards on both Geese as well as Turkeys and anything in-between. I have found that there is no need to purchase all the specialized super ammo out there to do the same thing, place a pattern where you are aiming, with the intended target centered in it. So my advice is to set up one of your shotguns as your primary hunting shotgun, and find some ammo that your choke likes and stick with it. Steel shot kills ducks, geese, turkeys and anything else you want to hunt with a shotgun just as well if not better than the fancy stuff.
