So yesterday we see a doe trotting down the middle of the road and today this little one is next to the house.
We have the camera set so we will know when Momma comes to retrieve it. Hoping the doe is ok and returns if not we will have to get a hold of someone to rescue it. This might not be to easy to do as no wildlife rescue can take deer and the DNR says "let nature take its course."

Did Momma end up coming back for it later or did you have to step in at all?

I have run across this before. If there is some predator lurking in the area Mama deer might have her fawn hide near human habitation for protection. Mama isn't afraid of you this time of year but whatever is stalking her fawn probably is not comfortable coming close to a home. Possibly a Coyote or some other useless critter. I would think that she will come back to check and feed the fawn but may not take it away until whatever threat is gone. Let us know how this turns out. If you see a Coyote or two hanging around do Mama a favor and take it out.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day but let's not forget what Memorial Day is really all about. Teri Anne, CW4, US Army (Ret)

So I stated Momma stashed her little one, sorry to say this is not what actually happened.
My wife was out back when the little one came thru the back yard from the road in the back, and went to this bush to hide.
This was our concern that mom did not know where her little one was. We set up cameras so we could tell when/if she found her baby. 18 hrs later at 2 am the cameras pick mom up, it appeared she was what I would say looking for her little one. She walked the back yard, side yard and the front but was not checking out the side where the little one was hiding.
The little one was under the bush directly under the bedroom window. I got out the game call and opened the window, turned on the fawn bawl at very low volume. I do believe this is what helped Momma find her baby.
Happy ending, so glad we did not have to step in.
I hope everyone has a great holiday and remembers Why we have a day off!
