The firearm itself was only a small part of the moment. We spent most of our time talking about safe storage, legal responsibilities, carry considerations and ongoing training. The actual transfer took only a few minutes but I believe the conversation was the real value of the experience.

Well done Gabe. I suspect your son really enjoyed the talk as well. His first day as a real "man" and a story he'll be telling his kids and grandkids. (y)
 
I gave my daughter her first pistol last year. Before we even laid a hand on the gun, we spent a whole hour just talking about all the legal stuff and responsibilities. That conversation felt more important than the gun itself, but her joy was good to see
 
@Jtommy well done. Have 2 sons here. But, talking with my wife and others and reading research over the years, girls want and appreciate being a part of their parents life and that bonding is especially important.
