Curious if there are any other casters out there? Seems to be a dying art especially since wheel weights are no longer a good resource.

I'm still casting occasionally! It's definitely getting rarer these days. I switched to using range scrap and pure lead ingots instead of wheel weights, and it's kept the hobby alive for me

I have cast a lot of boolits. I really liked the hollow points and gas checks. 00 buck was fun to play with. 😉

Haven't cast since I moved to my new house 6 years ago. 🥲

It's not a dying art, just evolving! the wheel weight thing is a bummer, for sure. I've had way better luck finding scrap lead from plumbers, it's a lot cleaner, and you know what you're getting

i have been casting since the late 70's. pistol rifle and shotgun. in some cases it was cheaper in others performance improvement ( shot gun slugs were pretty slow back in the day) I had a high end match pistol 32 cal. S&W long, lead wad cutters offerings from most mfg were way to hard for the unit. no accuracy. solved that with my own mix.

That’s some solid experience right there

been casting boolits a lot longer than I want to admit
some calibers call for cast boolits things like 475 Linebaugh and 500 Linebaugh as well as the 45 colt
just part of the habit
I have cast for just about everything that I shoot, but now I tend to cast primarily for the cartridges that are obsolete or extremely hard to get. Several of my early Winchester and Marlin lever guns are in those "Odd" calibers.
