My youngest son, his platoon and the 127th Wisconsin National Guard returned this past week from the Middle East. My son and his group was there for a year and located mostly in Kuwait and Jordan. Their time in Kuwait was working along the Hormuz Straight. In total there were about 200 of our Wisconsin troops that arrived last early summer, and so were in place for the opening of Epic Fury. One of our medics will be receiving the Medal of Valor for helping to save another company's soldier who had been hit by shrapnel from an Iranian drone. I share all of this so that we have a strong National Guard and Reserve in our state that we can be proud of... and we can support. My wife is a Blue Star Mom and as a result we hear about kids always coming and going with the military.

My grandfather was in the WI Guard cavalry back when you had to ride a horse. My dad was Navy and was latter assigned to the Air Force. I was a military brat and later worked with Army AMRS as a volunteer teaching and supporting the radio needs between the oceans. My youngest is a 1LT in the WI Guard.

Why is this important? Would love to hear the military stories of others in this group. I have heard a couple of references but not the whole story. And, have targeted this year and beyond to go out of my way to thank vets and others who support our military. That includes each of you.

That’s a powerful family legacy and a welcome home worth recognizing. Please pass along a sincere thank you to your son for his service and the work his unit did.
