Asking for permission...

I tried asking farmers for hunting access and I got rejected like ten times. One guy said yes. That's all it takes. Do you ask landowners for permission or stick to public?

Once in a great while I would get on private land at an uncle's farm in Iowa, but primarily public. I was a bird and duck and critter hunter.

We recently moved to our property and being from out west where public land abounds, I found myself surrounded by private land for miles around us.

I used my OnX app to locate larger pieces in our area that do not appear to have homes/buildings and I sent a letter to one of the owners asking for permission. OnX shows public records including the owners name and the mailing address used for property taxes.

Keep in mind, I am a MEAT hunter and told him that I was only after a doe for the freezer.

Will see how he responds.....IF he responds that is.
