I'm curious about everyone's experience with their first handgun. Do you still have it? How do you feel about it now? Share your stories or even post a picture if you have one!

Ruger Security-Six, bought from a family friend when I was 18 in 1982. Not very smart and fell for someone else's song and dance shortly afterward and traded it straight up for a Bernalelli .380. Since then I've had a couple of other Security Sixes, and several more Rugers, but never another Bernadelli. Live and Learn

My was a Tarus revolver, I still have it, but I rarely shoot it. Would get rid of it, but I don't normally get rid of my firearms.

Ruger Standard was my first. I field stripped it to clean and oil as it was slightly used. All went well until I attempted to reassemble and then I learned the awful truth. I could not do it. I was almost in tears when my wife came to my rescue. She looked and laughed at me and then: SLAM....WHAM she picked it up and voila: done.She had never before seen a gun like this, but she put it back together in seconds. She laughed at me for years every time she saw that old Ruger, I wish I still had it and her too.

My first revolver was a S&W Mod 28 4" Highway Patrolman. I was in college with a Criminal Justice Major. The big N frame was a beast. Kept it a while but when I changed directions in my life I traded it off.

My first handgun purchase was a RIA 1911. Nice enough gun, but wrong for me. It was an educational purchase in my handgun journey. I learned what I needed in a gun because of it. It was the beginning of a journey.

Essentially, because I have large hands, 1911 single stacks are too thin for me to grip well.

My second gun was a bigger gun. Not as practical, but way more fun. A S&W TRR8. Now that's a gun I can shoot well.

First handgun was a Taurus raging bull in 44mag. Still have it and hunt with it. Many more have come and gone since then.
Its a very fun gun to ring steel with at 100 yards and I have never shot powder puff loads or 44 specials out of it. If your going to shoot a 44 shoot it for what its worth.

My first hand gun was something from the back pages of a magazine. It fired a lead shot ball #12 . Used a paper cap back by the hammer. At 5 feet it would pierce one side of a soda can. That's all I can remember as this was some 65 years ago. The caps were stick on for some of the toy revolvers that had individual cartridges back then.

First real handgun Ruger rst6, but it is wearing a Amt 10" tapered upper now days.

First was a .45 Magnum long slide. Really just a toy for me. Fun to shoot. Actually took it deer hunting here in Wisconsin. Never had an opportunity to use it.
Had 9mm's, .357 magnum revolvers and .22 auto's for plinking. All just seemed like expensive toys for me eventually. No longer own any of them.

My first Handgun was a Ruger GP-100 blue steel, no I don't still have it, but I do have the GP-161 stainless along with 9 other Hand GUN's

First handgun was a Ruger single 6, then a 27 Smith (357) . House was broken into and they disappeared. Replaced with a Smith mod 18 (22) and 66 (357). Then got into metallic silhouettes. Got a Contender in 7TCU and started with the Dan Wesson revolvers.

For me, my 1st handgun was a bust. Smith & Wesson M&P .40. I should have shot it first. The good news is I sold it for what I paid but gave a couple hundred rounds with it. Since then, nothing but revolvers. Couple of old K frames and I carry a Colt Detective Special.

The first handgun I ever bought is a 4 inch Smith & Wesson Model 19. It's the same model that my dad taught me to shoot when I was 14. I've had several over the years to include both 19s and 66s. Had others over the years, S&Ws and Colts but the 19/66 has always been my favorite. I had one of the first M&P 40s that came out way back when. Like you, it went down the road. Current full size is a Sig M17, carry a Sig P365X
