I bought an expensive GPS unit for a backcountry hunt and only used it once. I ended up going back to my phone with offline maps since it worked better and I already knew it well. That GPS has been sitting in a drawer for four years now.

While I use a GPS in my Jeep on a regular basis when out of the car and out into the woods it's without a GPS, or in most cases even without a map simply because I've hunted the area so many times I know it better than the back of my hand. Other areas I still use a USCGS map and a lensatic compass. Old habits die hard and besides I don't have to worry about the battery going dead.

I bought a GoPro HERO11 Black for hunting trips then realized I barely ever stopped to film anything once I was out there.

I have a friend up in Alaska that has a Go Pro and uses it all the time. The scenery as well as his commentaries make the videos super interesting. I also think that he may be using it to film his wanderings, (there are many) and in case he runs into a Brown Bear that is cranky. He always carries a 338 Win Mag when out and about. If he doesn't get the angry bear, at least the attack will be on film.
